History of the teams’ meetings
The two sides have crossed each other's paths numerous times in recent years, which is to be expected given that neither of them has won the elusive promotion to the Football League.
Last season, they both picked up wins, though Solihull’s was certainly more spectacular. They won 4-1 on Easter Monday, which was a surprise result given how well Boreham Wood did in 2025-26.
However, the Wood did win their first encounter that season. This was a big deal given the fact that they hadn’t beaten the Moors since 2020. Five defeats came in this time, so ending the domination was a real result!
Fun Facts
Solihull Moors makes an effort to keep the historical value of their two merging entities. Every season they alternate their away kits to match the colours of the previous home kits of Moor Green and Solihull Borough.
Last season, the Moors’ disciplinary record plagued their results. There was a stretch where in five games, three separate players saw red. These blunders brought them into the top three for red cards that season; Aldershot were first with 10!
Like some other National League sides, Solihull Moors have opened their doors to a local women’s team, in this instance Birmingham City Women. However, the team have since moved away and now play their games at the St Andrews men’s stadium.
Player Profiles - Solihull Moors
Jake Wakeling
Wakeling was a talented youngster with stints at fellow Midlands clubs West Brom and Leicester. He has since played over 60 times in the Football League with a decent record in his first season at Swindon.
Despite this, Wakeling has now returned to the Midlands for Solihull, where, in front of goal, he has managed a respectable tally.
Callum McFarlane
Permanently signed by the Moors last summer, after being released by Premier League side Fulham.
McFarlane spent part of last season on loan in the league below with stints at Hereford and Oxford City. However, he is back for this season, and recently scored against Middlesbrough in the National League Cup.
Player Profiles - Aldershot Town
Matt Rush
One of non-league’s finest goalscorers, and it’s easy to see why. Already this season, Rush has managed to find the net on a staggering total of NINE occasions! This is even more impressive when you consider he did this in just five league games.
He managed 27 goals last season, but he seems to be on a mission to beat that this time out, and ultimately help the Wood to the promotion that they were ever so close to last season.
Tylor Golden
An ever-reliable full-back who is excellent on either side. Golden is incredibly versatile, and it’s no surprise that he was one of the players identified by the promotion-hopeful side.
Golden has already made a strong start to life in Hertfordshire, starting many of their opening games. He’ll be hoping to continue the form found last season with Altrincham, as he was named the Fans’ Player of the Season.
